 WADHSAA 2009-Intro to Leadership Coaching

Our Association recently ran a two day professional development program which saw the well known and respected organisation Growth Coaching International provide an introduction to the process of ‘coaching’ for 18 Principals and Deputies in the Midlands District.  This heavily subsidised program was an initiative of the Executive as it looked to develop and enhance opportunities for its members.  The success of this program will see it offered in other the Narrogin District in the future.

Feedback:

Well presented, well organized.  The applications of coaching are broad in a school setting from leadership to student behaviour. A common sense approach.

Fantastic focus on a skill of leadership. Strong connection to the school context and the role of principal. Excellent opportunity to engage in skill development and reflection.

While some of the information wasn’t new, the program has demonstrated models to enable me to put different skills together and be an effective coach. Great for us to come as a team. Think this will help us back at school, have made a commitment to have our staff to provide us with feedback.

Very good, the 2 days were great. I learnt a lot and feel “excited” to go back and use it. I can actually feel that I’ve learnt something very useful and know that I will use it.
