2009 Conference - A Huge success
I congratulate the Conference Committee for the work they did to bring together the theme Sustainability: Rural Schools Leading the Community for the 2009 WADHSAA Conference
Almost all District High Schools, along with smaller schools and particularly rural schools have spent time examining educational provision. For our school sector, the issue of school viability and sustainability are crucial considerations. WADHSAA has a key role to play in discussions regarding the sustainability of our schools and communities.
What makes a sustainable school? What makes a sustainable community? What does and will our future in rural school look like? Are all of our schools and communities sustainable?
There is little doubt that models of re-engineering schools and communities are beginning to emerge. What can we do to ensure we bring the intellectual capital to the table to make sure the best decisions are made? If we sit back and wait, we will only be observers of imposed change. I urge all administrators in District High Schools ensure they actively engage in future discussion and planning.
On behalf of the convening committee, I
